Clifford Cliff W. Starr, 89, of Danville passed away on January 4, 2011 at his home with family at his side. Cliff was born on June 21, 1921 in Bismarck son of Orton and Lottie (Samuels) Starr. He married Thelma Livesay on March 2, 1946; she preceded him in death. He later married Patricia Bannon on June 5, 2004. She survives along with his son Phillip (Janet) Starr; two grandchildren: Jacob (Johanna) Starr and Sammie Starr; Sister Elizabeth DeNeal; four step-daughters: Colleen (Lyn) Stines, Deborah (Paul) Janosik, Kathy Bodart, and Susan Shaw; step daughter-in-law: Deborah Bannon and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert and Samuel, daughter Patricia, and step son Herman Bannon Jr. Cliff graduated from Bismarck High School in the Class of 39. He worked as a milk tester for the U of I for a couple of years before joining the U.S. Army and serving for 4 years as a medic during WWII. After being discharged from the Army he became a career farmer until 1980. He served on the board of the Grange Hall and Bismarck School Districts for 22 years; as well as faithfully serving in his Church in many capacities. Cliff enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and gospel music; but above all he loved his family, the land, and most importantly Jesus his Savior. A Celebration of Cliffords Life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January, 8, 2011 at the Danville First United Methodist Church 1400 Vermilion Street, Danville, IL with Pastor Peggy Emmert and Jan Reeder officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the Church. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home will be handling the arrangements. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Walnut Corner Cemetery in Bismarck. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Danville First United Methodist Church.
