Clifford Meral Smith

Clinton, Ind. -- Clifford M. Smith, 76, of Clinton, Indiana and formerly of the Danville, Illinois area, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:05 a.m. EDT Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born July 8, 1931 in State Line, Indiana, the son of the late Robert and Margaret E. McKee Smith. He married Connie M. Moudy on September 7,1968 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 23,1998. Survivors include: one daughter, Carrie Smith of Aurora, Colorado; one son, Chad(Stephanie)Smith of Conifer, Colorado; one granddaughter, Aubrey Smith of Conifer, Colorado and one sister, Winnie Hazelwood of Covington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Jones and one brother, Robert Smith. Clifford was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. While in the Army he helped trained the MCWTC. He was a member of the Lyford Bible Church in Lyford, Indiana. Clifford enjoyed hiking at Turkey Run State Park, mountain and rock climbing, camping and traveling to Colorado. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter. Graveside services and burial: 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Scott Coombes; Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday, May 9, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana.
