Clifford Cliff Eugene Elliott Sr., 77, of Danville, passed away at 1:31 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Cliff was born on December 16, 1928, in Fithian, the son of Charles Louis and Ethel Maude (Woodard) Elliott. He married Lois Blurton on June 13, 1954 in St. Elmo, Illinois at the Church of God. She survives. He is also survived by his one son- Cliff (Katie) Elliott Jr. of Paxton; two daughters- Jan Snider of Danville and Sue (Roy) Abney of Valrico, Florida; two grandchildren- Shawna (Chris) White of Jacksonville, Florida and Justin Woodworth of Brandon, Florida; one great-granddaughter- Sophie Woodworth of Brandon, Florida; one brother- Donald (Kitty) Elliott of Salesville, Arkansas; one half-brother- Russell (Joann) Elliott of Charlotte, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one-half brother- Richard Elliott; one-half sister- Sylvia Epperson; one sister- Velva Gilpatrick; and one son-in-law- Darrell Woodworth. Cliff graduated from Danville High School in 1946. After high school, he went to school at Utterback and Brown Business College and graduated from there in 1948. After school, he went to work for Woodburys and later Sherwin-Williams Paint Stores. While working at Sherwin-Williams he joined the United States Army and served from 1950-1952. After the military, he came back to work for Sherwin-Williams and continued to work there for 40 years until he retired in 1992. Cliff was a sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Illini. He enjoyed refinishing old furniture and going to auctions. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was involved in the mens club at the church. A celebration of the life of Clifford Cliff Eugene Elliott will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. John Prather officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. post 728 at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
