CLIFFORD CLIFF SHORTY BOEHME Clifford Cliff Shorty Boehme, 92, of Danville, passed away at 1:02 a.m. Thursday, May 5th, 2011 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Cliff was born on March 13th, 1919 in Rankin, Illinois, the son of Robert and Edna (Grove) Boehme. He married Margaret I. Pool on October 13th, 1946 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter- Rhonda (Tom) Cook of Catlin; two grandchildren- Rob (Dana) Cook of OFallon, Missouri and Lisa Cook of Danville; seven great-grandchildren- Skylar Cook, Braydon Cook, Kendra Pittman, Tim Pittman, Jaylen Pittman, Ka`Anna Pittman and Kendrick Pittman; two sisters- Verna Mae Fidler of Normal and Ann Lucas of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son- Robert Boehme, two sister- Iona McBride and Margarette Shank, grandson-Randall Cook and a great-granddaughter- Kaitlyn Cook. Cliff graduated from East Lynn High School in 1939. After high school, he joined the United States Navy, where he served on a submarine during WWII. He worked most of his life as a livestock dealer, owning Danville Livestock for a few years. He was a past member of the Elks and was currently a member of Masons-Furtherlight Lodge, GAO Grotto and St. James United Methodist Church. Cliff enjoyed square dancing and playing softball when he was younger. He raised draft horses and enjoyed going to livestock sales. He knew everybody that owned cattle and everybody knew him. Cliff also enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. A Celebration of the life of Clifford Cliff Shorty Boehme will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Ken Cox officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #210. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 2:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church or to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
