Cleo Mae Mullen, 96, of Danville, passed away at 3:15a .m., Monday, July 19, 2004 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born December 8, 1907 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel Ernest and Cora Viola (Grant) Winter. She married Shelby K. Mullen on May 5, 1934 in Danville; he preceded her in death in March 1975. She is survived by: 1 Daughter- Jean Mullen of Berkeley, CA, 1 Son- Robert S. (Sue) Mullen of Tracy, CA; 2 Grandchildren- Sue Ann (Thomas) Green of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wayne S. (Susan) Mullen of Mocassin, CA; 4 Great-Grandchildren-Jenelle Mullen, Shelby Mullen, Ben Green and Leah Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. Cleo was a 1926 graduate of Danville High School, attended Eureka College and graduated from Franklin College in 1930. She was a 75-year member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Pi Chapter; and was a lifelong high-school math teacher until her retirement in 1969. She was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church in Danville, where she had taught Sunday school. She was a member of Vermilion County Home Extension, Vermilion County Retired Teachers Association, and A.A.R.P., serving on the board of directors, and assisted with monthly health check-ups and newsletters. Volunteered for the American Red Cross, Danville Humane Society Thrift Shop, A.A.R.P. Drivers Review Course, Danville Area Food Pantry and the Veteran's Administration Pharmacy. Cleo loved to knit and read.
