Cayuga, Ind. - Clella Sue Vandevender, 81, of Cayuga, passed away at 5:05 a.m. EST Saturday, December 18, 2021 at her residence.
She was born February 27, 1940 in Olney, Illinois the daughter of the late Clell A. and Audrey E. (Jones) Trammel.
She married George D. Vandevender on June 19, 1976 at the Eugene United Methodist Church in Eugene, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2017.
Survivors include her daughter: Nancy Jill Anthony of Texas; step children: Sandra Vandevender of Valdosta, Georgia; Cynthia (Douglas) Carpenter of Eugene, Indiana and Mary Anne Redinbo of Colfax, Indiana, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her grandson: Billy Ray Wilson; stepson: Keith Alan Vandevender and sister: Patty Provines Worstell.
Sue retired from Teepak in Danville, Illinois from the sheering department. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Danville, Illinois. Sue was a 1958 graduate of Bridgeport Township High School in Bridgeport, Illinois. She enjoyed researching genealogy and working on crossword puzzles. During Halloween Sue was known as the 'Pop Lady' for giving out cans of pop instead of candy to trick-or-treaters.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Thursday, December 23, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Keith Warner; Burial: Friends Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, Illinois; Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Parke/Vermillion Humane Society, 1884 South State Road 63, Hillsdale, Indiana 47854.
