Claudette Ruth Mauk, 74, of Danville, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at North Logan Healthcare in Danville. Ruth was born on March 26, 1935 in Georgetown, the daughter of John C. and Rhoda M. (Stephenson) Cox. She married Ronald L. Mauk on June 19, 1954 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2008. She is survived by her son- Roger (Rhonda) Mauk of Danville; three daughters- Ronna (Roy) Davis of Danville, Becky (Dale) Phenicie of Danville and Rita (Paul ) Rollings of Longmont, Colorado; ten grandchildren- David (Karla) Sokola, D.J. Sokola, Chrystal Davis, Kyle Phenicie, Corey (Mary) Phenicie, Terance McCarty, Donovan McCarty, Miranda Mauk, Steven Rollings and Cassie Rollings; six great-grandchildren- Austin, Alex, Ava, Madisun, Macey, Vienna and Tristen; one brother- Marshall (Joyce) Cox of Danville; special caregiver niece Diana Sanford Jones and her dog Daisy May and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and two sisters. Ruth graduated from Danville High School. She worked as a ward secretary at Lakeview and St. Elizabeths Hospital in Danville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir. Ruth was also past President of the Illiana Organaires and volunteered at Sunbridge Nursing Home. Ruth enjoyed crafts, crocheting, cooking, listening to Christian music, reading Christian novels and spending time with her grandchildren and singing with her special friend Charlie Bland. A Celebration of the Life of Claudette Ruth Mauk will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Danville, with Pastor Dick Sullins officiating. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
