Claude Robertson

Claude Robertson,96, a cherished member of the Georgetown community, peacefully departed this world on June 21, 2025, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, Illinois. He was born on March 2, 1929, in Hillery, Illinois. Claude's life was marked by his dedicated service to his family, friends, and community.

Claude's professional journey began with 19 years at Paxton Warehouse, followed by an impressive 22 and a half years at Quaker Oats in ground maintenance, leading to a well-deserved retirement. Even after retiring, Claude was known for his generous spirit and continued to help his community by working with Reed Electric in Georgetown.

A man of deep faith, Claude served on the Georgetown Nazarene Church board as a Trustee for many years, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the church. He also held the important role of Sunday School Superintendent, nurturing the spiritual growth of many. In addition to his church involvement, he volunteered for the Georgetown Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief and Chief, demonstrating his dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow community members.

Claude was most proud of his family. He found immense joy in spending time with his wife and family, which was truly the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his son, Chuck Robertson of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Renee (Ted) Ames of Indiana and Patricia Evers of Tennessee; as well as five dear great-grandchildren, Tim, Samantha, Nicholas, Alyssa, and Jacob. He also leaves behind his brothers, Harvey (Lynn) Robertson and Leo (Emily) Robertson.

Claude was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Merel Ilene (Blythe) Robertson, his daughter-in-law, Jackie Robertson, and his parents, Clarence and Nettie (Kenney) Robertson. He also mourned the loss of six siblings.

A celebration of Claude's life will be held at 11am on Thursday June 26, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Houghton-Leasure's Chapel 200 East West Street Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Pastor Gary Farris will officiate. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 10-11am on Thursday prior to the service.
