Claude McCool, AKA "Hoppy" to his trucking family and friends, passed away at 5:40pm, Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. Claude had suffered a stroke one week earlier while visiting in Clarksville, TN. Claude was born on July 10, 1929, in the community of Lickskillet east of Georgetown, IL, to Richard and Lula Boen McCool. He married Mary Jane Neild on December 6, 1948. They were married for 62 years until her passing in April 2011. He and Mary Jane had three children: Steve (Pat) McCool, Sherry (Howard) Kruzan, and Spencer (Tammy) McCool, all of Ridge Farm. There are 10 grandchildren: Curtis (Elizabeth) McCool, Christine (Porter) Baird, Kelly (James) Almy, Karen (Brian) Sorensen, Jason (Melanie) McCool, Clint (Mary) McCool, Tom McCool, Josh (Kristen) McCool, Tyler (Mimi) Brown, and Sarah McCool. There are 18 great grandchildren: Jordan Reitsma, Chaston Baird, Daniel Sorensen, Vladimir Almy, Zack Sorensen, Savanah Baird, Emilee Sorensen, Violet McCool, Murphy McCool, Bronwyn Almy, Clara McCool, Cole McCool, Colette Almy, Daniel McCool, Maya McCool, Jacob McCool, Shelby McCool, and Camille Brown. He also has one great-great grandson, Gavin Risinger, and a great-great granddaughter due in May. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. He later married Mary June Rumple and added what he referred to as two more sons: Chris (Susie) Hanley and Brad (Reanna) Hanley. This union also brought 4 more grandchildren, Brittany Hanley, Michael Hanley, Shelbey (Harold) Fisher, and Tyler Frailey; plus 5 more great grandchildren with two more on the way. Claude was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Hazel Buhoveckey & Wilma Wilson. Claude did many things in his life, but the living was made mainly from farming and truck driving. He retired from Ryder in 1989 working the last two years in Ohio. There he had an extended family of friends that he and Mary Jane made 20 plus trips to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on work/witness missions to work with and help the Native American Indians at the Nazarene Indian Bible College. He is a proud member of the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene. Through his life, Claude has acquired a list of friends that is endless. Since he has been around for “100 years”, there are many and he was a friend to all of them as well. He never knew a stranger and was always there to help anyone that needed it. Through his deep religious beliefs, he always wanted to make sure people knew you had to Love each other and be friends. The family would like to thank Pleasant Meadows Senior Living for the “special” care that Claude received and their deep concern for all of us during his 3 days there. We wish memorials to be given in his name to Chrisman Church of the Nazarene or Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. A celebration of Claudes life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Cory Swinderman and Dr. Stephen Gladding officiating. Visitation will be held 3pm-8pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, is assisting the family with arrangements.
