Claude A. "Jude" Laws, Jr.

Cayuga, Ind. -- Claude A. "Jude" Laws, Jr., 70, of Cayuga, passed away at 2:46 p.m. EST Sunday, February 27, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born March 21, 1940 in Portertown, Indiana, the son of the late Claude A. and Sylvia A. Pribble Laws, Sr. He married Joyce A. Jordan on August 18, 1962 at the Cayuga Christian Church. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Melanie(Chuck)Lawhorn of Marshall, Indiana; Michelle(Scott)Kinderman of Newport, Indiana; Meisha(Dale)Jumps of Cayuga, Indiana and Melinda Laws of Newport, Indiana; one son, Chris(Stephanie)Laws of Bloomingdale, Indiana; six grandchildren, LeeAnn(Kenny Deck)Burleson; Stephan(Amanda)Burleson; Chelsea Kinderman; Charla Kinderman; Cody Jumps and D.J. Laws; four great grandchildren, Michael Burleson; Savannah Burleson; Bailey Burleson; Parker Graves and a future great grandson, Holden Rankin. Jude was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Jude retired from General Motors in 1992 as a iron hanger. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. His memberships include the Cayuga Christian Church; Cayuga American Legion Post #263 (Past Commander); Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department (Past Fire Chief) and the U.A.W. Local 579 in Tilton, Illinois. Jude was a 1958 graduate of Cayuga High School. He enjoyed NASCAR, Indiana University Basketball, Chicago Cubs Baseball, working outside, spending time with his many friends and watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Cayuga Christian Church; Officiating: Rev. Steve Vitaniemi; Burial: Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana with military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Post #263; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Cayuga Christian Church with a Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. EST by the District 11B I.V.F.A. assisted by the Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. EST until time of services on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the church.
