Clarence Edgar Keister, age 85, of Danville, passed away at 8:30 pm on Monday, October 8, 2007 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. He was born May 25, 1922 in Ambia, IN the son of William Edward and Bertha Catherine (Albertson) Keister. Clarence married Delores Borror on July 1, 1955 in Danville. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2007. He is survived by one son: Ed (Cassie) Keister of Danville; two daughters: Cathy (Nate) Rife of Cresent City, FL, Ruth (Brad) Pantaleo of Danville; two sisters: Margaret Marquardt of Baraboo, WI, Lillian Howell of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren: Ethan Rife of Cresent City, FL, Derek (Tara) Rife of Palm Coast, FL, Samantha Rife of Cresent City, FL, William Keister of Carbondale, IL, Jake and Abby Keister of Danville; one great grandchild: Trista Lynn Rife of Palm Coast, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister: Dessa and three brothers: Edward, Harold and Emmitt. Clarence served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII where he received the Good Conduct Medal and two Bronze Stars. After serving his country he worked in law enforcement in the Rossville area. Clarence operated a gas station in Rossville for a couple of years. He then worked in the construction trades building homes and doing cabinetry work. Clarence liked working with his hands whether it be on cars, cabinets or in his garden. He loved anything that had to do with nature, especially bird watching and also the many dogs that he had in his life. He was an avid vintage air craft enthusiast. A celebration of the life of Clarence Keister will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Danville with Greg Boldt officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the funeral home.
