Newport, Ind. - Clarence Edwin Norman, 83, of Newport, passed away at 4:35 a.m. EST Friday, February 21, 2020 at his residence.

He was born July 2, 1936 in Montezuma, Indiana the son of the late Dora and Mabel (Cummings) Norman.

Ed married Mary Vibbert on December 21, 1957 in Montezuma, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2017.

Survivors include three daughters: DeEtta (Joe) Claytore of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Kandi (Harry) Boyd of Hillsdale, Indiana and Gidget (Russell) Baird Hall of Newport, Indiana; four sons: Eddie (Gena) Norman of Newport, Indiana; Clyde (Penny) Norman of Universal, Indiana; Zeke (Renae) Norman of Dana, Indiana and Danny Murphy of Vincennes, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren: Mary, Brian, Becky, Jeremy, Jason, Kelby, Kyla, Jason, Tristen, Ryder, Maddy, Cassie and Clayton, and several great grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his daughter: Linda Sue Ritchey, two sisters and three brothers.

Ed worked as a general contractor/cement finisher, diver for PSI/Cinergy and auctioneer. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Navy. Ed was a lifetime member of the Newport American Legion Post 184. He enjoyed buying/selling antiques, musseling/diving in the river, deer hunting and playing his guitar.

Graveside services and burial with honors: 2 p.m. EST Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Oakland Cemetery Chapel in Montezuma, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor John Hawkins; Visitation: 1 p.m. EST Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Oakland Cemetery Chapel until time of services. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
