Danville, IL- Clarence Champion, 92, passed away on February 13, 2018 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. He was born on August 5, 1925 in Danville the son of Adolph and Maria (Gerrard) Champion. Clarence was preceded in death by his first wife, Molly Davis Champion. He is survived by his wife, Deloris Champion; sons, John (Sue) Champion, Thomas Champion; grandchildren, Brett (Alison) Champion, Jarad (Sara) Champion; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, Remy, Hugh; step-sons, Ronald (Janice) Lee, Chris (Debbie) Mosher; step-daughter, Carol (Cloyd) Coon; step-grandchildren; Todd (Sonna) Lee, Tim (Dawn) Lee, Corey (Faith) Mosher, Regan (Chris) Rudolph, Amanda (Andrew) Healey, Carrie (Ben) Mingo, Stacey (Richard) Deeter, step great-grandchildren; Katie, Brodie, Logan, Cameron, Parker, Noah, Harper, Kendall, Hayden, Garrett, Brianna, Jasmine, Dallas, Katrina, Tyler, Kendred, Taylen and Drew. Clarence had a special relationship with his step-granddaughter, Amanda. They were very close. He had a step-grand dog, Koda, who loved to go see Grandpa C. Clarence was a member of the United States Army, serving during WWII. He loved talking about traveling, fishing, hunting, talking about Davies Meat Packing House, General Motors and Kickapoo Fire Department, where he was assistant fire chief. He loved helping people and his church, for which he did a lot of work. A celebration of Clarence's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Batestown United Methodist Church 2224 Batestown Rd. Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his name to the American Alzheimer's Association.
