Clara Mable Martin Shockley went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2015 at 93 years old. She was born February 16, 1922 in Bridgeport Tennessee, the daughter of Joe and Sally Huff. Clara attended school in Parotsville, Tennessee. She married Donald L Martin on February 23, 1946 and they made Danville their home in 1952. Clara went to work in 1968 for Kmart and retired after 30 years in 1999 at 75 years of age. Clara loved The Lord, she enjoyed music and dancing, loved people and entertaining. It was never a surprise to find her attending her flowers or working in her yard. She was also an avid reader, and was known for her stylish hats. She loved her family and many of her grandchildren called her grandma Mabel. She was a member and attended Calvary Baptist Church until her health prevented her from going. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Martin and her son Gary Don Martin. Surviving family include her daughters Carol Romack (husband Jim) of Kokomo and Sherry Holstine Anderson of Danville. Her grandchildren Jamie Martin, Kim Knapp (her husband Tom) of Florida, Steve Holstine (his wife Jody) Jason and Ryan Holstine of Danville, Brody and Stori Anderson of Danville, April Cook (her husband Aaron) of Florida, Amber Rogers of Florida, Darin Laird of California, Tisha Estrada of Danville, Justin Martin of Danville along with 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1632 Georgetown Rd, Danville IL at 10:00am, Friday, May 15, 2015, with the funeral service directly following at 12:00pm Clara will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park Danville. Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, assisted her family with arrangements.
