Clara Leone Howard passed away in Westville, Illinois surrounded by love and family on August 1, 2020. Clara was born in Oakwood, Illinois on January 9, 1935 to Clarence and Eunice Ervin and was youngest of four daughters, Mary Lou, Martha, and Marilyn, who all preceded her in death. She had a brother from her fathers previous marriage, Douglas Ervin, who also preceded her. Clara was a 1953 graduate of Danville High School before enjoying the remainder of her life in Westville, Illinois. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Irvin Howard, on July 17, 2015. They were married on November 15, 1975 at Fairview United Methodist Church. Clara continued to be an active member of Fairview until her passing. Clara enjoyed traveling whether it be locally, camping at Forest Glen, or traveling around the country to experience new destinations and landmarks with her family. Clara enjoyed watching sports and was a loud and active fan, never wavering in her players or team. She took several trips later in life to watch her favorite player, Anthony Rizzo, play for the Chicago Cubs. She was lucky to see the Cubs win a World Series, often reminding her family she was a St. Louis Cardinals fan earlier in life but was happy she made the switch. Clara enjoyed attending church, holidays with her family, playing cards, taking care of her cats, and visiting with friends. But above all, Clara loved her family more than anything. Claras love for life and her family was felt by all she met. She continued to have an active social life until these last few weeks of her life. Not letting life pass her by, the last 3 years of her life she was "heading out" five nights a week with her friend Bill Leonard. We were actively trying to find a safety harness in order to fulfill her request to go for a motorcycle ride with Kirk Jones. Her love and luster for life has left an ever-lasting legacy for us all to aspire to. Surviving are her children Tamie Nagrodski, Tim Revello, Wes (Tammy) Howard, Terry (Nancy) Howard, and Lori (Dan) Huebner; her grandchildren Ashley Nagrodski, Danielle Nagrodski, Stephanie Sellek, Crystal Howard, Joe (Belinda) Howard, Jessica (Bob) Golliday, Joshua Howard, Jillian (Ryan) Williford, Jeremy Langford, and Paul (Miriam) Langford; extended family Warren Nagrodski, Jackie Watson Revello, Aimee Revello, Ken Revello, and Corrina Revello. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and longtime friends. She was blessed in being loved by too many to list. Special mention to her friends Janice Frattick and Karen and Garnett Miller and the love for her nieces and nephews and special mention to Connie Koertage all whom should would call several times a day. Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation. A small, Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 3901 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Pastor Matt Filicsky will officiate. Masks and social distancing will be required. Her family entrusted her arrangements to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. In lieu of flowers, Clara would ask you honor her by donating time or money to either C.A.R.A. in Tilton, Illinois or to Fairview United Methodist Church, Georgetown, Illinois.
