Clara Belle Poggendorf, 91, of Danville, IL, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman, IL. She was born on August 25, 1919 in Danville, IL the daughter of Mamie (Guymon) and Roscoe Humbles. She married Alfred E. Poggendorf on November 12, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death. Surviving are two children, Don (Marilyn) Poggendorf of Lake Park, FL and Alan (Myrna) Poggendorf of Georgetown, IL, three Grandchildren, Chris (Madonna) Poggendorf of Westville, IL, Jamie (Ken) Russell of North Port, FL, and Steve (Nicole) Poggendorf, of Mattoon, IL, Seven Great Grandchildren, Bailee Poggendorf, Taylor Poggendorf, Jodi Little, Jessica Wyer, Evie Poggendorf, Ryan Poggendorf and Mike Poggendorf, several Great-Great Grandchildren and a Special Friend, Betty Keith. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her Grandson, Mike Poggendorf and her three sisters, Garnet Sandusky, Ruth Whitlock, and Virginia Lee Highland. Clara Belle attended Danville Schools and was an employee of Time-O-matic and General Electric Co., in Danville, IL. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a devoted Grandmother and was widely known among family and friends for her wonderful cooking ability. Her happiest moments were spent cooking favorite dishes for other people. A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
