Claire B. Biggs, 75, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:38pm, Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born on February 5, 1937, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Thomas A. and Jessica U. {Newdecker} Griffin, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Jerry M. Biggs on June 11, 1956, in Batesville, MS. He will miss her dearly. Others who will miss her include: her son, Roger Biggs of Georgetown; her daughter, Susan (David) Warner of Danville; her brothers, Thomas Griffin & Joe Griffin, both of Memphis, TN; and her sisters, Katherine Elliott of Mountain Home, AK, & Vivian Griffith of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pat & William, and two sisters, Frances & Ellen. Claire enjoyed being a homemaker and volunteering her time. She donated her time and helped with fundraising for the Georgetown Public Library, as well as, being a life-long volunteer with the Vermilion County Conservation District. She always was one of the members to be counted on to help with all the activities at Forest Glen County Preserve. In her spare time, Claire enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and canning. Claire cherished the time she spent with her family. A celebration of Claire's life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be noon to 2pm prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Claire's name to Georgetown Public Library or the Vermilion County Conservation District.
