Cj Brooks

C J Brooks, 14, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:00am, Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on October 5, 1997, in Danville, IL, the son of Cory L. and Carolyn J. (Cottrill) Brooks. CJ enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, trapping, and being outside doing many activities, including mushroom hunting with Grandpa. He was a member of the NRA. He loved hanging out with his friends, Wyatt, Drayton, & Trent. He attended Mary Miller Junior High in Georgetown. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by: his parents, Cory & Carolyn Brooks of Georgetown; his grandparents, Harrell & Rhea Brooks of Olivet, and Barbara (Kevin Jessup) Cottrill of Catlin; his brothers, Brice Brooks & Dylan Brooks, both of Georgetown; his very special sister, Emily Pruitt of Georgetown; his uncles & aunts, Dale (Donna) Brooks of Georgetown, Troy (Lynda) Brooks of Olivet, Russell Cottrill of Catlin, & Alan (Liz Lomax) Cottrill of Catlin; his many cousins; and his good buddies, Wyatt Carter, Drayton Cast, & Trent Finchum. His grandpa, Donald Cottrill, and his great grandmother, Beulah Cottrill, preceded him in death. A celebration of CJ's life will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at First Church of Christ, 503 N Main St, Georgetown, with Phil Miller and Matt Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 3-8pm, Monday, April 16, 2012, at the First Church of Christ. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials may be given in CJ's name to Forest Glen County Preserve.
