Christopher Paul Clark

Christopher "Chris" Paul Clark was called home July 10, 2024. He was born September 7, 1955 to Donald Clark Sr. and Shirley Atwater Clark who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was siblings Richard "Dick" Clark, Judith Clark and his twin brother Thomas, who did not survive at birth. He now joins them no longer needing to fight cancer but finding rest.

Survivors: His first wife Sheila blessed him with "Daddys Little Girl" Katherine "Katie" (Darren) Young and their 4 daughters; Olivia, Ava, Addison and Scarlett, who provided him much joy.

His second wife Brenda blessed him with Thomas and Cathleen. Thomas is his twins namesake and is a fighter just like his father. Cathleen his youngest daughter gave him a special joy, as like her father, she was blessed with a singing voice. He so loved being there when she performed.

He is also survived by siblings Donna Klaman and her children Tim and Sarah, Sue Clark and her children Josh and Val and Dan (Janet) Clark and their children Betsy and Abby.

In 2015 he met Becky Payne and they formed an immediate friendship that resulted in their becoming soulmates. Together they packed as much into their short 9 years as possible. Her daughter Tricia (Aaron) Ottarski and their son Ike Shelato also survive him.

Chris attended Saint Paul Grade School and Schlarman High. He continued to cherish his Class of 73 through the years and many times was caught looking through his year books. He went on to attend Danville Junior College, Roosevelt School of Music and received both Batchelor and Master of Arts from Southern IL University at Carbondale. Any that knew him would also give him credit as being a walking encyclopedia of music. He was just as renowned for declaring one of his favorite movie quotes at any given moment.

Prior to college he played with Ray Nimricks band at the Lamplighter. While at Roosevelt he was a member of Midnight Reflection. After returning to Danville he joined many bands through the years. A walk down memory lane will recall Incogneatos, Leatherwood, Willard Cratchelow, NTB and Nuthin Fancy. He was always willing to fill in to rescue a gig, sit in and never turned down a chance to jam. He was an icon many times at the I&I, Lola's and The Black Bears Jams. Not only was Chris a perfectionist when he played his drums, but he was equally blessed with a voice that astounded people. When singing his favorite song Dont Stop Believin you would have thought Steve Perry himself was in the room.

His work locally included Voorhees Lumber, Signet Productions, Human Kinetics and Oakwood School District 76.

Chris was diagnosed with cancer first in 2013 he fought it and additional cancer till the end.

A special thank you to The Black Bear and Oakwood Comets for the fundraisers and support during his Journey.
