Danville- Christine Standridge, 85, went to be with the Lord at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 3, 2012 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born June 2, 1927 to Robert and Lou Ella Gibson White in Etowah, Tennessee. Christine married the love of her life, Reuben Standridge, on February 17, 1945. Reuben passed away Dec. 1, 1994. She is survived by one daughter, Clara (Charles) Arnold of Danville; two grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa Columbo) Arnold of Westville and Dana (Bryan) Foreman of Danville; two great-granddaughters, Lara Foreman of Danville and Ashley Arnold of Danville; a brother, William (Linda) White of Tellico Plains, TN; a sister, Louise Hall of Ookala, HI; several nieces and nephews; a special niece Dianne (Bill) Constant and family of Englewood, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant sister Ruby White, and a sister Mary Sue Bennett of Hamilton, MT. Christine's family was her world. She loved life and prayed daily, thanking the Lord for giving her another day. She loved being outside working in her yard. She was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues until the age of 81. She made beautiful crochet items and enjoyed giving them to special people in her life. Christine will be remembered for her sweet and caring ways and her sweet smile. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Carle Hospice caregiver Scott and a special neighbor and long time friend, Jane Williams. A visitation for Christine Standridge will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Afterwards, she will be laid to rest with her husband in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
