Christine Karushis

Christine Karushis, 80, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Westville, lovingly known to her family and friends as Chris or Nana Chris, passed away peacefully at Evelyns House Hospice Care located near St. Louis, MO on January 12, 2019. She was born on October 20, 1938 in Westville the daughter of Andrew and Julia Karushis.

Chris attended Schlarman High School. In 2002 she retired from CCL Custom Manufacturing. She then moved to the St. Louis area to be closer to her daughter, Julie, and her family.

Always putting others first, she was a loving, caring person. Her sole objective of her adult life was to be the best grandmother (Nana) to the two most important people in her life, her grandsons. She loved spending time with them teasing, joking and especially playing cards or dice. Chris was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Her favorite saying was, "We are so Blessed, definitely". She was an avid collector of angel statues. There were many people in her life that she referred to as angels. She was truly blessed to have them looking over her.

Chris is survived by her daughter, Julie Dunbar & son-in-law, Dan Dunbar of St. Louis, MO, two grandsons Marc Dunbar of Austin, TX and Bryan Dunbar of St. Louis, MO and her brother, Andrew Karushis of Veedersburg, Indiana.

A celebration of Chris life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville with Father Deus officiating. Visitation will be 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home with a Rosary Service to be held at 11:45am. She will be laid to rest in Sts.
