Christine 'Chris' Ann Wells

Danville - Christine Ann Wells, age 76, of Danville, IL, passed away on August 15, 2023. Christine, or Chris, was born the daughter of Mathias and Marjorie Rothwell in Danville, IL on August 6, 1947. She was united in marriage to Jerry Brien on August 22, 1992. He preceded her in death. She was married to Otis Wells on July 3, 2004, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2016.

She is survived by her siblings, Terry (Sue) Rothwell, Suzie (John) McNeil, and Vicki Marsh, and by her numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Chris graduated from Danville High School in 1965. She studied mathematics at Northern Illinois University, obtained her education degree from Eastern Illinois University and completed graduate work at Illinois State University in Math Education. Chris was a teacher at Danville Consolidated District 118 from 1971 to 2004, she taught her youngest sister, Vicki, and 2nd and 3rd generation students in the Danville community.

Chris was a long-standing member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as a deaconess. She loved her church family and was devoted to praying for the various members. In her spare time, Chris loved to craft, specifically quilting and embroidery. She baked and decorated extravagant cakes. In younger years, she loved to travel to visit her family throughout the USA; her favorite spot was the Big Horn mountains, viewing the wildflowers during the beginning of summers. As an avid animal lover, Chris housed several golden retrievers and cats throughout her life. Chris loved movies with Julia Roberts and would never miss NCIS.

A service to celebrate the life of Chris Wells will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made As Good As Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois at www.asgoodasgold.org.
