Chris Knapp

Chris Knapp, 61, of Danville passed away on November 12, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on December 22, 1954 in Danville the daughter of Melvin and June (Grubb) Feezor. She married Doug Knapp on November 17, 1973 in Danville and he still survives. Chris will be deeply missed by the community and her family, her mother June Feezor-Bannon, mother-in-law, Bonnie Knapp, husband, Doug Knapp, children; Robert (Heather) Knapp of Japan, David Knapp of Danville, Stephanie (Adam) Sexton of Covington, IN, brothers; Timothy (Reta) Feezor of Danville and Brian (Michelle) Feezor of Bruceville, IN, grandchildren; Tristan, Kylie, Harden, Kaden, Karter, Rylan, Conner, Rhett and nieces April (Brett) Kuras, Ashley (Devon) Meadows, Kelsey and Brianne Feezor, nephews Daniel and Ian Feezor along with several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Feezor, step-father Joseph Bannon, nephew, Ryan Feezor and father-in-law, Robert D. Knapp. Chris was a hair stylist for many years; she finished her cosmetology school before she graduated high school. She loved to make others feel good about themselves, and her career choice is of no surprise. She worked throughout the years, at Elite Style & Color, J.C. Penny Salon, and Creative Designs, in Danville, Illinois. In 1973, Chris joined Doug Knapp as devoted wife in holy matrimony at First Assembly of God Church, Danville, Illinois. In 1996, together they established the family business, Express Packaging Service & U-Haul, also in Danville, Illinois. Furthermore, Chris was a quiet soul but a bold mother to her three children. She endowed them with her legacy and set a very high bar for them to live for others, as she did for them. Chris was also a grandiose and key figure to her many grandchildren's lives, often taking care of them each day. There are many attributes to be known about Chris, but one remains greater than them all - she lived to serve others. Chris possessed a quiet and reassuring strength with her ministry of presence and servanthood and joined Doug in the ministry in 2006 at New Life Christian Center. Moreover, Chris would always lend a helping hand to various organizations such as Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society and Service International, helping provide disaster relief. She also volunteered at the Danville Women's Care Clinic where she loved watching the children. Doug and the kids deemed her the "baby whisperer" because she could always tell what the children needed in order to calm them down. Chris and Doug have a large church family coming from Danville First Assembly, to The Rock Church, Life Church and Christ Way all in Danville. She has touched so many lives and will be missed dearly. Chris loved to garden, decorate, and go shopping, but most of all she was a cheerful giver and enjoyed the countless interactions with people she met. The biggest joy in her life was spending time with others and personifies how she expresses and experiences love. Chris had a gift to adapt to anyone she encountered and would offer her love and encouragement to them. Another love language she actualized was applying acts of service; she always put others in front of herself, whether that be asking about someone's day or how their family was doing, she always wanted to be engaged in people's lives. Chris had a subtle impact on those around her, she would seek out those in need and meaningfully want to know how they were, to give them what they need. She embodied sincerity in all that she said and did; she possessed a voice of clarity and was an encouragement to those around her. A celebration of Chris' life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Life Church, 2105 North Bowman Ave. Danville, IL 61832 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Archie Neal officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Danville, IL 61834 from 4:00-8:00. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials can be made in her name to the Danville Women's Care Clinic 200 West Williams Street Danville, IL 61832.
