Chris A. Lawton, 52, of Rossville, passed away at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at his residence. Chris was born on March 14, 1954 in Biloxi, Mississippi, the son of Jim and Mary (Booker) Lawton. He married Kathy Jewell on August 3, 1996 in Rossville, Illinois. She survives. Chris is survived by his parents- Jim and Mary Lawton of Paris; wife- Kathy Lawton of Rossville; three daughters- Andrea (Jeremy) Lile of Hoopeston, Ashley Lawton of Danville, and Rachael (Scott) Blake of Rossville; two brothers- Gary (Patty) Lawton of Indianapolis, Indiana and Russell Lawton of Paris; two grandchildren- Madisyn and Evan Lile of Hoopeston. He was preceded in death by is maternal and paternal grandparents. Chris graduated from Paris High School in 1972. After high school he went to Eastern University, where he graduated from in 1976 with his Bachelors degree in teaching. Chris worked at St. Pauls Catholic School as a Junior High Science teacher for the last 5 years. He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Chris enjoyed gardening and traveling around to see lighthouses. He was a member of Prairie Flowers. Chris loved teaching at St. Pauls and spending time with his students. A Mass of Christian Burial for Chris A. Lawton will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Catholic Church, with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the St. Pauls Catholic School Science Department.
