Danville- Cheryl S. Pentecost, 65, of Danville went to be with the Lord and her mother on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 1:53 PM at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on July 15, 1946 in Danville to William "Bill" Owens and Dorothy Horton Purple. Surviving are a son, Daniel (Sarah Hudson) Pentecost of Danville; four sisters, Pat (Randy) Pitlick of Chandler, IN, Mary (Chuck) Brakley of Covington, IN, Shelly Bodine of Rantoul, IL, and Sandy (Tim) Owens of Covington; two grandchildren, Alexis Pentecost and Nathan Hudson; father Bill Owens; and four special friends, Amy Jackson, Linda Gilroy, Brenda Stanley, and Shirley Pearson. She was preceded in death by her mother, infant sister Katherine, grandparents William and Cora Horton, and several aunts and uncles. Cheryl was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Danville Area Community College. She most recently worked at Genpact in the MERS Department, where she had many good friends. She had been a member of the Frontier Twirlers, enjoyed rummage sales, was a Sunday School Teacher, and volunteered her time with St. Elizabeth's Hospital and the Red Cross. Cheryl was always thoughtful, and never forgot to send a card for a birthday or holiday. Most of all, she loved her friends, family, and enjoyed her time with her grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Cheryl Pentecost will be held at 11 AM EST on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Sunset's Covington Chapel in Covington, IN. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM EST on Sunday, January 29, also at Sunset's Covington Chapel.
