Cheryl Lynn Kienast

Cheryl Lynn Kienast, 75, of Danville, IL passed away on May 3, 2026 at Goldwater Care in Danville, IL.

Cheryl was born on January 20, 1951 the daughter of Lenmore and Fern (Zirkle) Barber of Onarga, IL. She married David Lee Kienast on May 22, 1976 in Danville.

Survivors include her husband, David Kienast of Danville, IL, her children, Christopher Kienast of Danville, IL, Gregory (Erin) Kienast of Naperville, IL and Kathryn Kienast of Danville, IL, two grandchildren, Kyle Audrey Kienast of Naperville, IL and Silas Devon Kienast-Combs of Danville, IL, and one sister, Darla (Jeff) Sparenberg of Gilman, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Barber.

Cheryl was a caregiver by profession and by calling. She earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois and helped many while serving as a Nurse Practitioner at Carle Clinic in Danville. Of those she cared for, her family mattered most. Moments of rest were spent admiring flowers, listening to the crickets, and enjoying God’s creation.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 East Main Street, Danville, Illinois, 61832. Pastor Kent Tibben will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.
