Cheryl Cherry Joyce Laws Hettmansberger 06/30/1945 " 11/11/2010 Cheryl, age 65, left this world to meet her savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Cherry was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and teacher. She was born in Richland, Washington June 30, 1945. Her parents, Joseph Ralph Laws and Louisa Elisabeth Gebhart Laws raised her in Portland, Oregon along with her six sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri and began her career as an elementary educator at Tilton Grade School in Danville, Illinois. There she met and married Jim, her spouse of 37 years. Together they raised four children. In 2001, Jim and Cherry moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina. Cherry was passionate about her faith, and was a member of The Rock Church in Danville, Illinois and later Lake Wylie Christian Assembly in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. She also taught first and second grade for almost two decades at Bismarck-Henning Elementary School and later at Hickory Grove-Sharon Elementary School in Hickory Grove, South Carolina for two years. After retirement she was a regular substitute for Rock Hill District Three Schools and a volunteer teacher for adults learning English as a second language. Second, only to her faith, family is what could be described as most important to Cherry. She was known as Mom, Cherry, Momma, Grandma Cherry, Ma Cherry, and Aunt Cherry to those closest to her. She is survived by her spouse James Darrell Hettmansberger, Lake Wylie, SC. Her four children and their spouses: Becky (Stan) Jackowski, Danville, IL; Steve (Amy) Hettmansberger, Maryville, TN; Angie (Jay) Waldrop, Rock Hill, SC; and Mike (Tricia) Hettmansberger, Zionsville, IN.
