Charlotte Ann White, age 78 of Danville, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 4:16 PM after a long battle with Alzheimer's, at home with her family surrounding her. She was born January 21, 1937 in Danville the daughter of John and Mae (Lee) Hughes. She met Hershel Ray White while working at Teepak and they were united in marriage on December 12, 1969. He survives. Charlotte will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Hershel, daughter, Chris (Mark) Foote of Danville, Sons, Jack (Tina) Divan and Travis (Erin) White of Danville and Brother Jim Hughes. 5 grandchildren, Ryan and Michael Poggendorf, Travis and Caleb White and Jarrett Divan, 4 step grandchildren , 4 great grandchildren, Michael and Evan Poggendorf, Maddy and Elli Poggendorf, 5 step great grandchildren, brothers and sisters in law, and many nieces and nephews, and longtime friends, Bob and Judy Smith of Danville. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and David Hughes and great granddaughter, Isabella Poggendorf. Charlotte was raised in Muncie, IL and often told stories of her childhood. Charlotte was an award winning Avon sales lady for many years. Charlotte also liked to collect dolls. She formerly worked at Danville Tent and Awning. Charlotte was an avid cook, her specialties being her various pies, cakes, and cookies. Charlotte loved going to various festivals, rummage sales and flea markets. A lot of her trips to the flea markets happened on the spur of the moment when Hershel would wake her early and say "Hun, want to go to Bargersville?" and a short while later they were on the road. It was not out of the ordinary for them to drive a couple hours just to get a cup of coffee and head back home. Charlotte enjoyed the annual family gathering and catching up with everyone. Hershel and Charlotte were regulars at the North Vermilion McDonald's coffee club and enjoyed going there in the mornings to visit their many friends. Charlotte loved her husband and family and often put them before herself. A special thank you to Connie Ford, Jennifer Wilson, niece Angel White, Dr. Halloran and Carle Hospice in Danville for the wonderful care they provided to Charlotte. A Celebration of Charlotte's Life will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at 1 pm at Sunset Funeral home, Danville. Pastor Scott McCurdy will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
