Danville- Charlotte Ann Cooke, 84, of Danville passed away at 2:55 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. She was born on September 14, 1928 in Georgetown, IL to Harley V. and Fauneil L. Skinner. She married John Cooke, Jr. on November 17, 1956 in Danville. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Tim (Bonnie) Cooke of Ridge Farm; three daughters, Louise VanBuren of Danville, Lori (Lee) Duprey of Danville, and Lynn (Jeff) Nogoda of Bourbonnais, IL; grandchildren, Amber and Loren Winters of Virginia Beach, VA, and Amy Nicole VanBuren of Danville, TJ Cooke of Danville and Emily Dunkerly of Scotland, IL, Alex and John Duprey of Danville, Truli Gilespie and Duane Duprey, also of Danville, and Ashley Nogoda of Bourbonnais, IL; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Nicole Winters; brothers-in-law, Alex (Evelyn) Cooke of Alabama, and Louie Cooke of Westville; sister-in-law Louise Pedigo of Danville; cousin Darrel (Sharon) Hendricks; and special friends, Bob and Carolyn Deck of Attica, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Greg VanBuren, brother Gerald Skinner, brother-in-law Juan Pedigo, sisters-in-law Alice Cooke and Leona Payne, and a special friend Opal VanBuren. Charlotte enjoyed BINGO, puzzle books, and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. She could often be found cooking, especially baking cookies for her family. Charlotte especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Charlottes family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at North Logan Health Care and to the VanBuren Family for their compassionate care. A service to celebrate the life of Charlotte Cooke will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Joe Humrichous will officiate. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, August 28, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the family towards a trust fund for her great-granddaughter Hannah.
