Charline Allen

Charline Allen, 85, of Covington, passed away at 2:20am, Friday, July 27, 2018, at her home. She was born May 18, 1933, to Leland E. and Mary E. Massey. She was a twin and the last of 6 children, born in the depression. She graduated from Covington High School in 1951. She worked as a secretary at White Law Office until she met and married Jack Allen. They were married for 49 years and had three children. Charline enjoyed her family, walking the circle trail, Euchre games, and chocolates of any kind. She kept up on current events and pop culture on TV and newspapers. She was a progressive thinker and an avid Democrat. She enjoyed staying fit and maintaining a sense of style and grace. Charline lived her life as an example to her family that hard work and a sense of fair play was at the core of a good person. Those who will miss her dearly include: her son, Tom (Kris) Allen of Carmel, IN; her daughter, Ann (Rob) Nettles of Covington; her six grandchildren, Stacy (Jess) Allen, Stephanie (Ed) Lober, Jacquie Lober, Anthony Allen, Cam (Jade) Wedgewood, & Vance Allen; her great grandchildren, Sydney McCullough, Jax Wedgewood, Knox Wedgewood, Liam Allen, & Zane Allen; her brother, Charlie Massey of Virginia; and her sister, Donna Nicklas of Covington. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, her son, Ed Allen; her grandson, Nathan Allen; two brothers; and one sister. A celebration of Charline's life will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Sunset's Covington Chapel, 420 3rd Street, Covington, IN, with Mike Harshman officiating. Visitation will be 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at 10:00am on Monday, July 30, 2018 in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington. Memorials may be given in her name to the Nathan T. Allen Scholarship Fund at the Covington Community Foundation.
