Charles Wayne Shull of Georgetown, Illinois passed away at 5:58pm on Friday May 24, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington Il at the age of 82. Charles was born March 18, 1942, in Danville, IL to Alvin and Winifred (Frazee) Shull. He married Charlene (Rudd) Crawford on Nov. 1, 1973. They shared 50 beautiful years together.
Charles was preceded in death by his Parents and Son Garry Crawford. He leaves behind his loving Wife Charlene and his 4 Children Shari (Jeff) Mays, Dorrie (Mike) Pierce, Kris (James) King, and Darrin (Kimeri) Shull, and Daughter-in-law Maureen Crawford. Two Sisters Sandra Powers and Pam (Ken) Walker, and 14 Grandchildren Jessica, Ashley, Kasi, Nick, Luke, Keith, John, Eric, Travis, Quinton, Amanda, Cameron, RJ, and Calie. As well as Sister-in-law LaVerne Baker, several Great-grandchildren, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Charles was a Veteran of the United States serving in the Airforce from 1959-1963 and was honorably discharged. He worked as a Truck Driver most of his adult life and retired from McLaine in 2007. Charles was a Reserve Deputy Sherriff for Vermilion County, IL in the 70s.
Charles was an extremely loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. Charles was an exceptionally good and proud man who took care of everyone around him. Charles was an incredibly talented handyman who liked to hone his skills with home remodeling and working with his hands.
Charles enjoyed Country music and was a huge fan of Elvis.
Charles's favorite pastime was being with his wife Charlene, whether working in the yard or playing Yahtzee. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially during family cookouts.
Charles will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving Wife Charlene.
The family is tremendously grateful to the staff at OSF in Danville and Bloomington for the excellent care they provided for Charles and the entire family.
A visitation will be held for Charles on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 12 pm 2 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Houghton-Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street, Georgetown. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 pm on Saturday. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Georgetown Cemetery.
