Charles VanBuren, 86, of Danville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on January 10, 1927 in Palermo, IL, the son of Charles and Melita (Roberts) VanBuren. He married Opal Fillinger on September 12, 1949 in Paris, IL. Opal preceded him in death in 2005. Surviving him are two sons- Stephen (Anne) VanBuren of Lansing, MI, Randell (Lolita) VanBuren of Milton, FL, three daughters- Cathy VanBuren of Danville, Teresa (Joe) Humrichous of West Lebanon, IN, Tammy (Shane) Hopper of Danville, one daughter in law- Louise VanBuren of Danville, three sisters- Alma Parker, Carolyn Holler and Virginia VanBuren, eleven grandchildren- Craig (Ronda) VanBuren, Mark (Jessica) VanBuren, Erika (Brandon) Ruiz, Charles (Sarah) VanBuren, Amber (Loren) Winters, Amy VanBuren, Allan (Amanda) Shepherd, April Shepherd, Jared Tarquini, Joshua (Tyler) Hopper, Christa (Tanner) Sawka, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several special friends and neighbors. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son- Gregory VanBuren and one great grandson- Noah VanBuren. He went to the University of Illinois and worked in sales and service for Bass Tire and Oil Company in Danville until retiring in 1989. Charles was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He served our country in WWII as part of the United States Army. He loved his cat “Holly” dearly. Charles also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and trusted Jesus as his personal savior. The family would like to thank everyone from Indiana University Medical Center “Angels in our midst”. UNFORGETTABLE A Celebration of Charles Life will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastors Scott McCurdy and Joe Humrichous officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Research Center.
