MAHOMET - Charles E. Ruhl, 86, of Mahomet peacefully passed away on Tuesday (April 12, 2016) at Carle Hospital. Charles had a life well-lived. He was born October 25, 1929 in Moline, IL, the son of Charles H. and Delia (Holmquist) Ruhl. On April 11, 1958, he married the love of his life, Toki Ohara, in Chicago. She predeceased Charles on November 16, 2014. Also surviving are his three daughters, Vera Matsuno (Kelly West) West of Ottawa, Ill., Rebecca Grace Vance of Savoy and Berenice Leslie (Jon Erickson) Ruhl of Pefferlaw, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren, Jody Matthew (Nettie) McCullough, Richard Charles (M.J. Morris) Miske, Matthew Michael Miske, Daniel James (Erica) Miske, Andrew Jared West, Rosemary Rebecca Ruhl-Stote and Lillian Eileen Ruhl-Stote; and two great-grandchildren, Asher James Miske and Easton Lucas Miske. He was predeceased by his parents. Charles was a loving husband and father and an excellent provider. He worked for over 30 years for Manor Care, Inc. He loved the outdoors, gardening, music, animals and reading. One of his very favorite memories was of bicycling along Lake Michigan in Chicago with Toki. He will be most remembered for his devotion to his beloved wife Toki. The family would like to thank the staff at Bridle Brook Assisted Living in Mahomet for exceptional care of Charles. He considered it his home. The family would also like to thank the very caring staff of Carle Hospital's Oncology Unit for their compassionate and respectful care of Charles in his final days.
