Charles Junior Robbins, age 81, of Danville, passed away at 6:00 am on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his home. He was born on August 18, 1927 in Sumiton, Alabama the son of Jessie Elbert and Allie Mae (Ledbetter) Robbins. Charles married Lillie M. Holley on October 13, 1950 in Columbus, Mississippi. She survives. He is also survived by two children: Patti (Rex) Robbins Edwards of Danville, Eddie (Charlotte) Curry Robbins of Danville; three grandchildren: Josh Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, Jeremy (Heather) Edwards of Oswego, IL, Michael Robbins and his fianc(c)e Marlane Hendrickson of Danville; four great grandchildren: Zac Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin and Meia Edwards of Oswego, IL, Whitney Hendrickson of Danville; two brothers: Paul Robbins of Cleveland, Alabama, Robert Robbins of Guntersville, Alabama; three sisters: Doris Parker of Guntersville, Alabama, Jessie Mae Ivey of Guntersville, Alabama, Essie Mae Dover of Sipsy, Alabama and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter: Holly Joyce Robbins, four sisters: Lois Owens, Ruby McLoed, Ruth Messer, Pearley Sandlin; three brothers: John, Elbert, Roker Robbins; two brother in laws: Earl Parker, Carlton Owens, one sister in law: Mary Robbins. Charles worked as a coal miner before moving north. He then worked at Harrison Steel before working for General Motors for twenty five years retiring from there in 1985. He was a member of the Dilworth Baptist Church in Alabama and of UAW #579 in Danville. Charles enjoyed walking, gardening, fishing, and watching WWE wrestling. His favorite wrestler was John Cena. He loved traveling with his brother Paul, especially to the Blue Ridge Mountains in West Virginia. Most of all he enjoyed being around his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called him Hoot. He loved to spoil them any chance he could. A celebration of the life of Charles Robbins will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Phil Jackson officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the funeral home.
