Charles Reid Ice Charles Reid Ice, 83, of Danville, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on December 26, 1927, in Danville, the son of Alva Reid and Verla Marie McClellan Ice. He married Betty Jean Stricklin on November 7, 1953, in Catlin. She survives. He is also survived by two sons- Bill (Treasy) of Ice and Bradley Ice both of Danville; one grandson-Tony Ice; three step granddaughters- Niki Sower, Lori Powell, and Jessica Powell; six step great-grandchildren- Makayla, Kendra, Gabriella, Trenton, Chloe and Jacoby; two nieces- Shelly Alpers and Sandra Zorns; and very special friends that were like family- Eric and Kimberly Hagley. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother- Stanley Ice and one sister- Beverly Barnes. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and also served his country in the United States Navy. He was a lifelong carpenter, retiring from Smoot Construction Company, and receiving his 50 year pin from the Carpenters Union. Charles always enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends at McDonalds North. He also enjoyed attending auctions and an occasional trip to the Riverboat Casino in Peoria. As per Charles wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, is assisting the Ice Family with arrangements.
