Charles R. Van Duyn

Charles R. "Chuck" Van Duyn peacefully left this world at 3 AM, Thursday, September 3 at age 75. Left behind to honor his memory are his wife of almost 37 years, Linda; his daughters, Shelly (Ron) Veach of Texas and Sherry (Paul) Dance of Utah; grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Levi and Logan and great-grandson, Miguel. Other family members that will feel a great loss are his two brothers, Dennis (Mary) Van Duyn and Bob Van Duyn; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jan) Edgington and Ed (Alice) Edgington; a very special cousin, Jim (Liz) Van Duyn and many nieces and nephews, who thoroughly enjoyed his funny stories and teasing nature. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lois Van Duyn; sister, Sharon (Tony) Curry; sister-in-law, Laura Van Duyn; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clem and Thelma Edgington; nephew, Kevin Hannan; great-nephew, Josh Witsman. Chuck had a zest for life and never met a stranger. Being in the trucking industry for the largest part of his working career allowed him to travel all across the US which he greatly enjoyed. He also worked in the plastics industry in Danville and Olney, Illinois where he continued to make many long and lasting friendships. He considered John and Lynn Jacobsen and Doug and Jamie Andrews, as part of his extended Southern Illinois family. He also enjoyed annual family reunions, holiday celebrations and family dinners. Fishing was his passion and he was very good at it. If he was not catching fish - no one else was either. Chuck's family would like to thank all those at Gardenview Manor and Transitions Hospice Care who were involved with his care. You kept him safe and comfortable to the very end and we are all more grateful to you than you will ever know. Please join Chuck's family in sharing photos, videos and memories on his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
