Charles R. 'Chuck' Jones

Charles R. Chuck Jones, Jr., 75, of Danville, passed away at 6:45p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at Illiana Veterans Administration Health Care Center. Chuck was born on December 18, 1933 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, the son of Charles R. and Rita (Smith) Jones, Sr. He married Betty L. Hambright on August 18, 1956 in Westville, Illinois. Chuck is survived by his wife, Betty of Danville, one son, Eric E. Jones of Westville, two grandsons, Kyle Jones and Nick Jones both of Westville, and one sister, Marie (James) Curtis of Burlington, North Carolina. His parents preceded him in death. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1952-1956. He worked as an oiler for Lauhoff (Bungee) Grain, retiring with 34 years of service. Chuck played in the outfield for the Lauhoff Team in the Industrial Fast pitch Softball League, which he had the highest batting average for a year. He coached little league in Westville, during the 1970s. Chuck was his grandchildren favorite fan, missing none of their games. He loved his family, especially his grandsons. A private family graveside service will be held later. Burial will in Monticello Cemetery, Monticello, Illinois. Arrangements entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
