Charles R. “Buddy” Landers, 62 of Danville, Illinois passed away on January 2, 2025.
Buddy was born on August 6, 1962 in Decatur, Illinois to Charles and Rosalie Landers.
Buddy was a 1980 graduate of Danville High School. He was previously employed by Eagles Foods, Office Max, MSI Foods and was currently employed at B&B Foods. Being employed in Sales throughout his life, Buddy had the gift of Gab. He used this gift helping out with Bartending at various bars in the community. He took pride in dressing up as Santa during the holidays and visiting his loved ones. He also loved volunteering at Winter Park coaching his daughter’s softball and soccer teams. He was well known as Bud “Run a lap” Landers.
He is survived by his children Nicole (Randy) Freter, Nathan (Monique) Landers, and Kelsee (Brody) Landers, his grandchildren Cameron & Averi Freter, Kamden & Aiden Landers, and Lydia Webb. Also survived by his sisters Tammy (Greg) Lund, Rhonda (Rhett) Butler and Shelly Rangel, and his brother-in-law Gary Borgwald, and numerous nieces and nephews, all whom he loved dearly. Buddy was previously married to Susie Catlett, who he remained good friends with and even lovingly and jokingly called her current husband, Steve Catlett, his brother-in-law.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose, and his sister, Debbie.
Buddy was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini Fan. Many a Saturdays were spent tailgating at Illini games with his family and numerous friends.
Buddy’s happiest times were when he was with his children and grandchildren, who he cherished more than anything in the world.
Buddy was one of a kind. The word “stranger” was never part of Buddy’s vocabulary. Instantly after meeting him, you became part of his world. Buddy was always the life of the party, many said he would light up any room just with his presence. He was always a listening ear and a hand to hold if you felt down. His hugs were unmatched, you would always feel the love that he brought with them. His smile was contagious, and he would bring joy and laughter to anyone he was around but just being himself. His friendship was special, having him in your corner was knowingly having a friend for life. Buddy had many special friends, like Jessica Clifford and Shay Fitzsimmons along with his “Daddy Day Care” crew.
Buddy was already an angel, and now he finally has his wings.
For the visitation the family requests that you please wear anything that you think would make Buddy smile. “Oh Yeah.”
