Charles “Dick” Pechin, 83, of Rantoul passed away on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at Gibson Annex, Gibson City.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove, Rantoul.
He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Lafayette, Ind., a son of Robert Eugene and Marybelle (Fairchild) Pechin. He married Sharon Kay Berry on Dec. 6, 1959, in Lafayette. She survives.
He is survived by two children, Patti (Bruno) Williamson of Rantoul and Don (Pam) Pechin of Westland, Mich.; a sister, Dolores Bennett of West Lafayette, Ind.; three grandchildren, Shaun Pechin, Zachary (Kristen) Pechin and Cassie Pechin; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Dick graduated from Jefferson High School, Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a parachute rigger and retired in 1980 as a life support instructor at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul. He owned AAA Monograming for a number of years. He was an avid golfer, a member of many leagues. He was a member of many veteran clubs in the Rantoul area. He, like his father, was also a member of the Masons. Memorials may be made to the Rantoul VFW.
