Springfield, IL - Charles Edward Lashbrook, 89, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Johns Hospital. He was born in Camden, IL on October 13, 1924 to Orrin M. and Aleda E. (Weightman) Lashbrook. He was united in marriage with Julie A. (Kane) Lashbrook in Champaign, IL in 1949. She preceded him in death in 2012. He was also preceded by his parents and brother, Orrin J. Lashbrook, of Columbia, Mo. Survivors include his sons, Stephen E. (Nancy) and John C. (Beth), both of Springfield, their children and grandchildren. Charles proudly served our country with the U.S. Marines during WWII, stationed in Hawaii and Japan. He then attended Wheaton College. He worked in retail sales most of his life, culminating in the purchase and operation of Lashbrooks (formerly Ries Strauss) Mens Clothing Store in Danville. Charles enjoyed participating with other merchants in the downtown Danville retail community and also served as a Commodore of the Danville Boat Club. Upon retirement, Chuck was able to pursue his hobbies of reading and home improvement projects. He enjoyed going to movies, sporting events, dinners and dancing at the Boat Club, and plays at the Red Mask Theater. He loved spending time with his family. A memorial service for family will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Mask Players - 601 N. Vermilion St., Danville or Danville Public Library - 319 N.
