Charles Jesse Bechtel, 82, of Georgetown passed away on Monday August 30, 2021 at VA Illiana in Danville. Chuck was born May 4, 1939 in Lincoln , IL the son of Jesse and Alma (Worth) Bechtel. Chuck married the love of his life Mildred Holland on July 9, 1960 in Gulfport, MS. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2015.
Chuck leaves behind two daughters, Tammy Lynn James of Georgetown and Peggy Ann (Doug) Wolpert, four grandchildren; Charles Douglas (Sarah) Wolpert, Allen Edward Bechtel, Shelby Elizabeth James and Kayla Caroline (Trever) Wolpert also four great grandchildren; Ariah, Eleanore, Lillian and Theodore, one brother James (Elaine) Bechtel and one sister Mary (Gene) Scott.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, one son James Edward Bechtel, one brother Robert and one sister Janice Craig.
Chuck was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Georgetown American Legion for over 50 years. He worked at Graue Chevrolet in Lincoln, IL as a Service Manager for over 25 years. Chuck was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles as well. Chuck enjoyed being outdoors whether he was splitting wood with Doug, sitting on the porch listening to the radio with the dogs, he just enjoyed the outdoors. Chuck loved the time he spent with his family and friends, or what he called Framily. Everyone who knew Chuck, knew he was a quiet man, but when he spoke up they knew he was going to tell a good story. Chuck enjoyed sports. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, Atalanta Braves, Oakland Raiders, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr.
A celebration of Chucks life will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 East West Street Georgetown, Illinois 61846, at 11 am. Officiating the service will be Gary Farris. Burial will follow at Forest Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday September 7, 2021 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Chucks name to the Georgetown American Legion Post 203 or Mission K-9 Warrior. Chuck's family would like to thank the staff at the VA Palliative Care Unit for there care and compassion for Chuck.
