Charles "Mike" Goodman

Charles “Mike” Goodman, 72, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Accolade Health in Danville, Illinois.

He was born July 29, 1952, in Peoria, Illinois, son of the late Charles Arthur and MaryAnn (Kelley) Goodman. He was raised by his grandmother, Pauline Goodman.

Mike married his loving wife Debbie Baker on May 28, 1987, in Danville, Illinois, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children: Jason Goodman, Kristi (Mark) Whitehurst, Sheri (Avery) McGee, Julie (Kareem Williams) Baker; three granddaughters, six grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew: Brian (Elaine) Thornhill.

Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister: Linda Thornhill, one great-granddaughter and one nephew: Steve Thornhill.

Mike served his country faithfully and honorably during Vietnam in the United States Army from 1970-1972. He had a passion of refinishing old furniture, especially oak furniture, and could often be found at auctions and flea markets looking for his next project. Mike loved music, tending to flowers in his garden, and watching wrestling. Most of all, Mike enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at 2PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street in Danville, Illinois. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be from 1PM-2PM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the funeral home.
