Charles Franklin Gilroy, 63, of Sidell, passed away at 6:55am, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at The Waters of Covington. He was born on March 24, 1952, the son of Paul and Violet {Hewitt) Gilroy, both deceased. Those who will miss him include: his sisters, Sandra Thornton of Ogden, Elaine (Kevin) George of Veedersburg, IN, Anita Schmidt of Tilton, & Janice Wade of Belgium; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, David. Charles was a proud Veteran of the US Army for four years stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and served one tour in Germany which he enjoyed. He had worked for the former Wheeling Stamping Co. in Danville. He was a member of the Pleasant Mound Church of Christ. He liked to work with his hands and tinker around. He enjoyed watching TV, drinking his favorite drink, Pepsi, and reading science fiction. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, May 29, 2015, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Visitation will be held 10am - 12pm on Friday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pleasant Mound Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
