Charles G. Reffett

Charles G. Reffett Sr., 100, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:46pm, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home. He was born on April 27, 1913, in Indianola, IL, the son of Warren and Elsie (Lanham) Reffett. He was united in marriage to Opal Elaine (Sykes) Reffett on November 2, 1936, in Montezuma, IN, until her passing on July 26, 2003. Charles will be missed by: his son, Charles (Barbara) Reffett Jr.; his grandchildren, Cathy (Terry) Wonderlin, Mike (Lori) Markevich, Paula (Doug) Neild, Doug (Denise) Reffett, Jeremy Reffett, Kim Lape, Kristi Cobble, & dear friend Elisabeth Larimer; & many great grandchildren; & his brothers, Cloyd (Cathy) Camplin of Sheridan, Dale (Pat) Pearman of Georgetown, & Bob (Betty) Thomas of Indianola. He was preceded in death by: his parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and his daughter, Donna (Ronald) Markevich. Charles worked in manufacturing for many years. As a younger man, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, square dancing, bowling, and had the most wonderful vegetable gardens. As he grew older, he enjoyed feeding his birds and squirrels. Another thing that brought him joy was watching “Everybody Loves Raymond”. He was known by many as a wonderful and kind neighbor who didnt shy from hard work and offered help when needed. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service. As per his wishes, Charles will be cremated. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery at a later date.
