Danville - Charles F. Wright, Sr., 89, of Danville passed away at 7:10 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home. He was born on November 3, 1927 in Danville to William and Pearl (Johnson) Wright. He married Annabelle G. Thomas in 1948. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Charles "Chuck" F. (Paula) Wright, Jr., Mark E. (Veronica) Wright, John R. Wright, and Gary G. (Teresa) Wright; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and a close cousin, Asenith Wynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Wright, Sr., two brothers, Thomas A. and William C. Wright, and three sisters, Dorothy Martin, Winifred Cooper, and Elsie Ritter. Charles served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1947. He worked as a nursing assistant at the VA until his retirement after 35 years. Charles was also a member of the Danville Evangelical Church. His real passion in life was fishing but also loved watching the Chicago Cubs. A service to celebrate the life of Charles F. Wright, Sr. will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Reverend Brian Sampson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, March 5, also at Sunset in Danville.
