Charles "Ed" Jameson, 93, went to be with his Lord on May 14, 2021. He was born in Danville on January 7, 1928, the son of Clarence Dean and Nora (Gates) Jameson.
Ed married Alberta (Lambert) Jameson on June 4, 1955 and she preceded him in death in 1992. Together they had two daughters, Sue (Bill) Gibson and Edina (Stephen) LeCleir. He later married Dora (Moulton) Read and she preceded him in death in 2020.
Ed is survived by his daughters; four grandchildren, Jeanne (Joshua) Wise, Julie (Justin) Behrens, Stephanie (John) Burt, Matthew LeCleir; five great-grandchildren, Kendalyn & Karsyn Wise, Blake & Leah Behrens, Swayzie Burt; twin sisters, Maxine (Lloyd) White and Mabel (Dennis) Turner as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberta, Dora, sister Irene and brother Lawrence.
Ed was stationed in Texas with the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He raised his family in Rossville, IL and as a young man became the manager of the Grab-It-Here Grocery stores in Potomac and Rossville. He was an elder at the Rossville Church of Christ for many years and also served on the Rossville School Board. Ed then worked at Bohn Heat Transfer in Danville, IL as a purchasing agent until he retired in 1990. In 1979, Ed and Alberta were able to build a home on Eds "home place" in rural Danville. He truly enjoyed the time spent and memories created there. During this time, they became involved members of Northland Christian Church and enjoyed being a part of their live nativity each year.
Ed had a lifelong passion for antique cars and was a charter member of the Illiana Antique Automobile Club. He owned many antique cars over the years and many happy memories involved taking his wife and daughters to antique car shows and tours where he received numerous trophies and awards.
During his 20 years of marriage to Dora, they enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family. They were active members of Lone Oak Church of Christ and later Southside Christian Church in Danville.
Ed was a very friendly, kind, and personable man who had a deep devotion to the Lord and his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
