Charles E. Jones

Fithian Charles E. Jones, 82, of Fithian passed away at 2:40 PM on October 24, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Charles was born on April 27, 1938 the son of Alva and Mabel (Hatfield) Jones in Danville, IL. He married Carol L. Cessna on June 17, 1961 in Danville, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Jones of Fithian, one daughter, Brenda (fiancee Vern Mayberry) Hafner of Oakwood, IL, two sisters, Doris Danner of Homer, IL and Barb Parr of Oakwood, IL, four grandchildren, Brendan (Chelsi) Hafner of Danville, IL, Brianne Hafner of Oakwood, IL, Nathan Mayberry of Bartow, FL and Josh Mayberry of New River, NC, as well as a great-granddaughter, Becca Hafner, a great-grandson, Landonn Mayberry along with several nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bradley and one brother, Richard Jones, and two sisters, Maxine Collum and Donna Clay.

Charles is a member of Muncie Baptist Church and the PollyWogs Association. He retired after 41 year of service from Esco Corp. and was also the co-owner and operator of J&P Disposal and later Jones Disposal. Charles enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, manicuring his yard, fishing any chance he got and supporting Oakwood High School athletics. He was also a dedicated Cardinal and Illini fan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor Dave Garver will officiate. Burial will be in Stearns Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Memorials may be made in Charles memory to the Muncie Baptist Church or a charity of the donors choice.
