Charles Debarba

Charles "Chuck" "Charlie" DeBarba, 48, lifelong resident of Westville, passed away unexpectedly on September 20,2019, while in Daytona Beach, Florida, by the ocean where his soul was. He was born on October 10, 1970, the son of Terry G. and Gail I. {Jaggers} DeBarba, both deceased.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cindy Pettigrew, on May 21, 1994, in Westville and they were able to celebrate 25 years together. With that marriage he gained his son, Brandon Pettigrew. They will miss his loving (and sometimes frustrating) presence in their lives every day.

Chuck loved his vehicles, especially 1969 Chevy Truck, and was meticulous in their care. He also enjoyed taking care of his home and his animals were precious to him.

Chuck was known by many people and was truly a friend to all. He honestly was a compassionate human and genuinely cared for others. He showed his compassionate nature to many individuals and families over his lifetime. He was a devoted son, grandson, husband, and father. He enjoyed talking with people and getting to know everyone. He teased those he loved and cared for and many of his famous sayings will live on. Chuck loved serving his community and those he worked for whether it was mowing or swinging the door. He was a familiar face and a calming presence to many when in their time of need. He will be remembered by all whose lives he touched and those who cared for him.

Those who will also miss him include: his wife, Cindy; his son, Brandon; his sister-in-law, Becky Pettigrew; his three nieces, Breanna Bailey, Kali DeBarba, & Autumn Pankow; his brother-from-another-mother, Barry (Teresa) Gossar; his family from Sunset Funeral Homes, especially those from Sunset-Urbas & Houghton-Leasure; and his many friends too numerous to list.

A celebration of Charles life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home in Westville, located at 414 S State Street, with his friend, Pastor "Brother" James Blue. Visitation will be between 2:00pm and 8:00pm on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the funeral home. He understood about the parking lot. He will be laid to rest in Sandusky Cemetery, Westville. Because Chuck would say so, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be given in his name to Westville community events and organizations and also Vermilion County Shelter Foundation or Sandusky Cemetery. Please join his family and the many who loved him in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com, because he would!
