Cayuga, Ind. -- Charles David Jackson, 20, of Cayuga, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, February 21, 2009 in Newport, Indiana. Charles was born on December 27, 1988 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of Chris Cruea Moore and David E. Jackson. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Chris(Larry)Moore of Cayuga, Indiana; father and stepmother, David(Gail)Jackson of Green Bay, Wisconsin; one sister, Lindsey Moore at home; one brother, Bill Smith of Green Bay, Wisconsin; maternal grandmother, Sue(Thomas)Oakes of Villa Grove, Illinois; maternal grandfather, James(Christine)Wheatfill of Cayuga, Indiana; maternal great grandmother, June Jones of Cayuga, Indiana; paternal grandmother, Caroline Reitsma of Newport, Indiana; paternal grandparents, Larry(Jackie)Moore of Cayuga, Indiana and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly. Charles was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Martha Cruea; great grandfather, Charles David Bailey and two cousins. Charles was a 2007 graduate of North Vermillion High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving as a chemical specialist, after injuring his back Charles was honorably discharged in December 2008. He was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church. Charles would volunteer his time helping the Cayuga Fire Department with their fund raising events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially this past summer with his cousins Steven Cruea and Justin Conrad. Charles was very sports minded and loved baseball. He was coached for many years by his dad, Larry. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EST Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Cayuga Christian Church, 106 East Walnut Street, Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Robert Dale Cruea; Burial: Eugene Cemetery, Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, February, 24, 2009 at the church. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
