Oakwood- Charles D. "Whoo" Rogers, 72, of Danville died at 4:10 PM on Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Danville to Ernest R. and Esther G. Fox Rogers. He married Linda Sue Dawes on October 12, 1979 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Don (Kellie) Rogers of Le Roy, IL and Charles (Kendra) Greene of Covington, IN; 5 daughters, Laurie (Dennis) Cope of State Line City, IN, Susan (Thomas) Cruppenink of Westville, Jamie (Scott) Hennig of Chenoa, IL, Susan (Jeff) Withers of Ellis, IL, and Cindy (Polly) Rogers of Rantoul; sister Kathryn (John) Hoskins; Sister-in-law Georgia (Gibb) Brewer; 19 grandkids, Travis Hurt, Raymond (Kelly) Withers, Charles Withers, Shannon (Paul) Morrison, James D. (Beth) Cope, Lucas C. (Sarah) Cope, Betsy J. (John) Reese, David Grimes, Joey Greene, Nicole M. Kinney, Lindsey M. Kinney, Amber S. Schlunaker, Thomas A. (Angela) Cruppenink, Raymond T. Rogers, Jacob D. Rogers, Danielle Hoffman, Daniel Hoffman, Reilly Hennig and Wyatt Hennig; and 11 great-grandkids, Becca, Patrick, Sherrie, Courtney, Bradley, Hayden, Alanna, Bentley, Zack, Lani, and Nicolas; 1 pending great-great grandchild; special nephew Chase Maxwell as well as many other nieces and nephews; little best friend, Punkin; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 aunts, and a daughter, Shirley Jo Rogers. Charlie was a 1957 graduate of Oakwood High School. Out of high school he worked for Royalty beauty and barber supply before going on to work at NACCO for 32 years. He was a member at Bowman Avenue Methodist Church and a past member of the Eagles Club. Charlie enjoyed camping and fishing, motorcycle riding, sightseeing, building truck toppers, and agitating. A service to celebrate the life of Charles Rogers will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastors Dennis Divan and Jim Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, August 11 also at Sunset in Danville. Charlie requested that everyone dress casually for the services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation.
